The situation
Why this project matters
Namamali Ward depends on agriculture, which makes it acutely vulnerable to erratic weather, prolonged droughts and floods. Climate change here is not abstract: it means failed harvests, food insecurity and lost livelihoods.
Young people have the most to lose and the most to give — yet they lack the education, skills and resources to lead climate adaptation. Environmental degradation is fuelling rural-urban migration, early marriages and vulnerability to exploitation.
This project equips youth with practical green skills and channels them into community-driven action: tree-planting campaigns, rainwater harvesting, demonstration farms and small-scale renewable energy — blending modern techniques with traditional knowledge so solutions stick.

Implementation
How the work gets done

Climate awareness workshops
Monthly capacity-building workshops for 200 youth with climate experts and environmental activists, using participatory methods.

Climate-smart agriculture training
Hands-on CSA training for 100 youth with agricultural extension officers, demonstration farms, and youth-led farming cooperatives for income generation.

Reforestation campaigns
Planting 100,000 indigenous and fruit trees in one year — community nurseries run by youth groups, school campaigns, and 'Adopt-a-Tree' commitments.

Renewable energy training
Biogas technology and installation training for 50 youth, enabling households and farms to generate clean energy from organic waste.

Leadership & mentorship
Pairing 20 emerging youth leaders with mentors in environmental science, agriculture and business.
